Dedicated API Services: Build Vessel Intelligence Directly Into Your Own Systems

Most maritime data ends up trapped in a dashboard — useful for a human scanning a map, but invisible to the systems that actually run your operation. Navtrac's Dedicated API Services close that gap: a documented, authenticated REST API that puts live vessel intelligence directly into your own platform or workflow, instead of asking your team to work inside ours.

What the API Actually Gives You

The Navtrac API is organized around the same data your operators already rely on in the platform:

Vessels — search by name, MMSI, or filters; pull vessels within a defined area; get a vessel's latest position, historical track, current voyage, port-call history, and nearby traffic. Risk & compliance — a per-vessel risk assessment, flag-state performance rating, safety record (PSC-style), and both single and batch sanctions screening against OFAC/UN/EU/UK lists. Security — active security incident data, so route planning and monitoring tools built on your side can flag proximity risk the same way Navtrac's own alerts do. Ports — terminal details, vessels currently in port, expected arrivals and departures, congestion, tides, and marine weather for a given location. Voyage planning — sea-route distance and routing between two points, plus route-specific weather. Reference data — standardized vessel types, flag states, and a port index, so your systems stay aligned with Navtrac's data model.

Every endpoint returns structured JSON, authenticated with a simple X-API-Key header — no OAuth handshake required to get started — and an /account/usage endpoint lets you track consumption against your plan programmatically.

Who This Is For

This is the layer that turns Navtrac from "a platform you log into" into infrastructure other systems can build on:

Port and waterway authorities pulling live vessel and congestion data into their own operations dashboards. Coast guards and navies feeding vessel positions and risk scores into existing command-and-control or fusion systems, rather than running a separate screen. Fisheries commissions and flag states automating compliance checks and zone-alert logic against their own licensing records. Insurers and underwriters pulling risk assessments and safety records directly into pricing and claims systems. Ship owners and operators wiring voyage planning, route weather, and security alerts into their existing fleet management tools instead of switching between systems. Why This Matters

The alternative is usually a manual export, a shared spreadsheet, or a screen someone checks by hand — all of which age badly once your operation scales past a handful of vessels. Build against the API once, and your fleet, port, or compliance data stays live from that point on, with no re-keying and no stale exports.
